SUMMER GUITAR COURSE There are plans in progress to organise a residential guitar course this summer the main theme of which will be my own approach to arranging and composing. The idea isn’t mine -- it comes from a pleasant character called Bernd Grossmann who came along to a gig I had with Johnny Dickenson in a little town in the south of Denmark sometime last year. Bernd explained that he was an enthusiastic guitarist whose profession was organizing business conferences and that he would like to try putting on a workshop in that area. It sounded good to me, and now we are further down the line and it looks like it is coming together nicely it is about time to outline the general plans and put up some contact links for Bernd who is ready to supply more detailed information. The proposed dates are 10 14 August. The place is Wasserkoog, which is a village near the little harbour of Eiderstedt on the North German coast. It sounds remote but in fact getting there is relatively straightforward. The venue itself will be the former school house that stands in its own grounds and has twenty rooms. I will be sharing the teaching with my old friend Remy Froissart. Remy and I go back to the ‘sixties. We spent time in Paris together and recorded a number of duets. Remy is a great player and a great teacher. Remy, Bernd and I have been thinking about the content of the course. I understand Bernd has worked out a price of 385 Euros for the whole thing. Songs : Lord Franklin, The Snows, Watch the Stars, Trees they do Grow High, |
