SUMMER GUITAR SCHOOL 2009 First of all a belated thank-you to all who made it out to Wasserkoog for the workshop in August. Just getting there was quite a trip. It was all a big pleasure for me though. The news now is that another course is being set up for next summer. This time the location is the South of France. The setting is a fine old farmhouse, long established as a centre for the arts, called Cubertou in the region of Cahors. The proposed dates are July 25 to August 1 2009. As a broad outline it will centre around my approach to the fingerstyle steel-string guitar -- what became tagged Folk Baroque in the ‘sixties. But it will encompass the styles that fed into that and also some of the branches off. It is difficult to assess specific level requirements. The idea is to work in musical concepts as much as established techniques. So an openness of approach is more important really. The man behind the organization is Ben Edwards. Ben is an artist with a long established association with Cahors. We became friends a while before the recent Pentangle reunion and Ben documented us with his camera.
